Clara Annett Cain Buatt

I was born at Cut Off, La. a very small community on the gulf coast of Louisiana. My father, Elmer F. Cain, was working for the Texas Co. We lived in Golden Meadow, LA (a few miles south of Cut Off) until I was about nine years old and going into the third grade. In 1945, when I was nine, we moved to Lafayette, La., at which time my father went to work for Bob Reeves or Ribstock and Reeves Drilling Company.

In 1948, my brother Charles was born. In 1949 my brother Donald was born and at this time we moved into a home we had built on W. St. Mary's Blvd. in Lafayette. There, we four children, (my sister Catherine, five years older, my two brothers and I) grew up.

I remember many long car trips to East Texas to visit my grandparents, my father's parents, and most of his brothers and their families who all lived nearby, and my one aunt on that side of the family. We were a very large group, many grandchildren, and we had a wonderful time playing in the barn, swimming in a small lake down from their house and riding a sleigh behind a mule they had. Grandfather let us drive an old car of his on the country roads and that was great fun. And, of course, Grandmother Cain's meals were wonderful. All the men ate first, served by the women and then the women and children ate.

In 1955. I graduated from high school and Louisiana State University in 1959. My husband and I attended L.S.U. together. After college, I worked for American Airlines for 8.5 years. Bobby went to Officer's Candidate School for the US Navy and became a Naval Officer and served in the navy for 3 years.

We were married in 1966 at which time Bobby was working for IBM. He is now Dirtrict Sales Manager for the Continuum Company. They design and produce software for computers.

Our daughter, Aimee, was born in 1970 and is our only child.

We built our home in Dallas in 1975, where we presently reside
