Billy Belcher’s
Divine Intervention
Bill and Mary Lou Belcher lived at Alvin, TX
where Bill worked in the oil field. When checking to see that the torch was
still lit over the reserve pits (to burn the film of oil off of the water),
Bill found it had gone out. He lit a flare, brought it down towards the
ground to get leverage to throw it into the pit and gas vapors that had
collected on the ground ignited creating a flash fire. It was like he was
standing in a "lake of fire". It burned his hands the worst and melted the
synthetic fabric pants that he wore. He was rushed to Galveston County
Hospital where he had to stay several days. Mary Lou called her mother, Ruth
Manning, and the prayers began. Thankfully, with the Lord's intervention,
Bill only had a few scars on his hands, his left foot and around his belt!
