Editor’s Desk T his issue features Alan and Mary Lou Bell’s children who died young, in order to give us more time to obtain information about some of the older children who reached adulthood. See page 3 for Let’s Get Acquainted, which provides what little information we know about George Kimball, James Author, Hardie Allen and Anne Cain. An update is also provided for previously published information about all the children.A lso in this issue we cover the usual topics of interest, plus we have one catch-up article about Dutch Dupree titled “Those Feet.” It was written by Dutch’s son Nathan who also read it at Dutch’s memorial service. René Belcher Mills has provided another article about Ruth and O.R. Manning — you will also find that article on page 6.And we had more errors to correct from last issue; I personally apologize for the poor quality of that issue. Now for my excuses! First, I had a catastrophic event late in the publication cycle — I inadvertently deleted ALL files associated with the issue and had to essentially start from the beginning. Secondly, I made the mistake of trying to update the family news to inform all of Sissy’s passing, after I had already mailed the CD-ROM to Becky for printing. I hope to avoid future problems like this and provide a more quality product! The last thing we need to address is to once again talk about cost. As you know, postage increased last month, and we now have better data on actual costs as additional issues have been produced. The bottom line is we will likely have to raise the cost of subscriptions and discontinue providing copies to non-subscribers. Non-subscribers may still read the newsletter by visiting their local library and using a computer to access the website version. This will help mitigate costs, plus you will also be able to access the other features on the website such as the family tree data, photo albums, etc. Oops—Corrections From Last Issue Here is the Meringue recipe that was supposed to accompany Ada’s Chocolate Pie recipe: Meringue 3 to 4 egg whites A little cream of tarter (about ¼ tsp.) 6 Tbs.
