Dallas Elizabeth Teague is the daughter of Richard Teague, the granddaughter
Donna Longstreath Teague and of course the great granddaughter of Bessie
Cain Longstreath. Dallas turned 13 on 21 May 03.
An excellent scholar, Dallas is a ninth-grade student with the Trent
Academy. Trent is a well established Internet school where students get a
diploma accepted by most universities—even some Ivy League schools. Dallas
tested for admission into Trent and although she had some gaps in her
education overall scores placed her in the ninth grade—versus being an
eighth grader in public schools. At Trent she finishes her schooling in 2
1/2 hours per day—contrasted with seven hours with about two hours of
homework at the best magnet school where previously enrolled. (She told
Donna she would never ask her again to go to a school with other kids!)
She is a member of Sherwood Baptist Church, where she sings in the youth
choir. Dallas does volunteer work with the Highland Road Observatory. Her
work there includes volunteering at the Friday public observing nights. She
works with the children at the campfire and helps people find objects in the
telescopes. She was also an assistant their summer day camp for 7-10 year
olds this year.
Dallas’ favorite things are dance, theater, art and music. She is a
member of the junior company of the Baton Rouge Ballet Theater. They toured
for 32 performances of Swan Lake this summer, performing at libraries, day
care centers, and nursing homes. Everyone loved the ballet, especially the
children. She plans to participate in auditions in Jan. and Feb. for several
major ballet companies summer intensives next year.
She is a gifted artist who loves to draw as evidenced by some of her
sketches. And
she also loves music—especially singing, and hopes to get a voice coach this
year. |
