Meet the Mark Cain
Family |
To
write an article about you family is a somewhat difficult task. You have
decide what to tell and how to hide all those things you don't want others
to know. I'm gonna tell you readers the basics of my life. Hi my name is
Mark Cain. I am the youngest grandchild of Fred Cain and Clara Herring. I am
also the youngest child of Buford Lee and Novie Ray Mae Cain. I have one
brother, Larry, and three sisters, Beth, Jane, and Deborah.
Most of my childhood was spent in Talco TX, a little
town about 30 miles north of Mount Pleasant. Some of my fondest memories
were those of working in the garden during the summers and hunting all year
round. If there was an animal in those woods, Larry and I were going to
catch it. I don't believe that any other child could have experienced and
learned what I did growing up. With five children in the house there was
always something to do or someone to bother. All I can say is that we had
fun.

Mr. Wood, Mary Cain,
Mrs. Wood, Michelle, Brittney, Zach, Mark & Natalie Campbell at the
reunion Jun 03 |
I met Michelle while attending school in Austin at
the University of Texas and we were married April 26, 1984. Brittney was
born November 4, 1984 in Crane TX. About three and one-half years later on
March 7, 1988, Zackery was born. We moved to Seminole TX. in 1991 when I
began working for Amerada Hess. I am still at Amerada Hess working as a
plant operator and Michelle is a deputy county clerk for Gaines County. The
kids are almost grown now. Brittney is attending Texas Tech and Zack is a
sophomore in high school. I truly believe that no other father could be more
proud of his kids. Brittney participated in basketball, National Honor
Society and choir in high school. She also graduated with honors and in the
top ten percent of her class, and is now pursuing a business finance degree.
Zackery is very active in 4H shooting sports where he has won many district
and state awards. He is like me any many ways in that he loves to hunt and
fish and trap.
Well that's my life in a wrap. I hope you all
enjoyed reading about it.

I have not
been with any of Uncle Fred’s family since I came to Beaumont, Texas in
1942. Prior to that, we always visited throughout the year. He was my
mother’s only brother that I ever knew. The others died before I was born.
It was so nice to meet Mark, Michelle, Zack and Brittney when they came to
the family reunion last June. Mark is Uncle Fred’s grandson. I knew Buford,
Mark’s father, but Buford was still single the last time I saw him.
Mark, Michelle, Zack and Brittney were all so nice.
I really appreciated the opportunity to be with them.

W hat a nice
surprise we had at our family reunion in Farmerville. It was so good to meet
some of our family members we had never met. One of those families was Mark,
Michelle, Zach and Brittney Cain. An added bonus was Mark’s niece, Natalie
Campbell. I really enjoyed visiting with all of them. Mark reminded me so
much of Uncle Fred in looks and talking. I want to say “Thanks” to your and
yours for coming so far to be with us. I really enjoyed visiting with you
all and hearing about more of Uncle Fred’s family.
I was also glad Jay and Judy Easley came, too. I
really enjoyed visiting with you, also. I know you came from Cuero, Texas,
which is quite a distance.
It was so great to meet you, Mary (wife of Fred
Cain, Jr.—called Son), with your guests, Mr. and Mrs. Wood. You all made it
special for all of us who had not met you before.
