Bobbie Muriel Richard Lasiter (great-granddaughter of Alan Cain) recalls
going to Black Lake on two separate occasions. One of the trips was made
shortly after she and Allen Lee Lasiter married. They went fishing and the
fish were biting so good that she tied a string around her big toe so she
could have more than one line in the water! They were catching fish
coming-and-going! Allen was teaching her the nuances of fishing, how to bait
the hook, string the fish on a stringer. After stringing a fish on the
stringer, she threw it overboard, but to her dismay discovered the stringer
was not attached to the boat!!! (Good thing they were biting really well!)
Bobbie also remembers the big black pot that the fish were fried in
outside of Ruth and Olon Manning’s first cabin, as well as lots of people
lined up on pallets on the floor of the old cabin at night.
